«Without Blood»: watch the trailer for Angelina Jolie’s new film

Angelina Jolie is back in the director’s chair. The trailer for the Hollywood actress’s new film has been released online — the psychological war drama «Without Blood», starring Salma Hayek.
The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Italian writer Alessandro Baricco. Set at the beginning of the 20th century, the story follows Nina, whose family is murdered while she miraculously survives. Years later, she sets out to find the man she believes is responsible for the deaths of her loved ones. Still haunted by trauma and consumed by a desire for revenge, Nina finally gets the chance to act on it.
The film goes beyond a story of revenge, exploring themes of memory, war, psychological trauma and the possibility of forgiveness.
For Salma Hayek, the role proved to be a deeply challenging experience. In an earlier interview, the actress revealed that she initially turned down the part because she found the material emotionally overwhelming.
«I didn’t want to be in this movie. I didn’t want to go through the same emotional turmoil as Nina. I told Angie: I don’t want to play this woman. It’s too painful. It took me so many years to reach a place where I’m truly happy. I don’t want to suffer for weeks and weeks», Hayek emphasized.
However, Jolie eventually managed to persuade her close friend to join the project.
Interestingly, Angelina Jolie’s sons Maddox and Pax were also involved in the production. They worked on the project as assistant directors.
«Without Blood» premiered back in September 2024 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film is set to receive its worldwide theatrical release on September 18, 2026.
