«I don’t feel like I’m 51»: Angelina Jolie embraces a new chapter in life
After a difficult divorce journey
It appears that Angelina Jolie is ready to turn a new page in her life. For the first time in a long while, the Hollywood star has spoken candidly about her personal life following her divorce from Brad Pitt.
During the promotional campaign for her new film «Couture», Jolie told Yahoo Entertainment that watching her children grow up has helped her view her own life from a new perspective. She now feels ready to reconnect with her true self.
According to the 51-year-old actress, her daughters now relate to her as adult women, which has prompted her to reflect on things that once mattered deeply to her.
«Now that my daughters are grown, I’m discovering so many new things. I think about what I would like to preserve for them and what I hope they never lose. And that reminds me that perhaps I once lost some of those things myself», the actress shared.
Jolie added that, through her children, she feels as though she is getting to know herself all over again. This has allowed her to see herself not only as a mother, but also as a woman with her own desires, dreams and plans.
«In a way, they are bringing me back to who I used to be. I feel that they no longer want to see only a mother in me, and I sense that I can finally be myself again», Jolie said.
The actress also revealed that she has not been involved in any romantic relationships since her split from Brad Pitt. Throughout those years, she remained focused on her children and her family. At the same time, she does not hide the fact that she is ready for a new phase of life.
«I don’t feel like I’m 51, and I’m not ready to think about getting old. I feel like I need to start living again. To be free again. Because sometimes it feels as though life has broken me a little», Angelina added.
As a reminder, Jolie and Brad Pitt married in 2014. However, just two years later, the actress filed for divorce, and the legal proceedings lasted for more than a decade.
The former couple raised six children – Shiloh, Vivienne, Knox, as well as their adopted children Maddox, Pax and Zahara. Some of the children have since chosen to stop using their father’s surname.
