Robert Pattinson hunts criminals in the first «Primetime» trailer
A drama based on true events
Studio A24 has unveiled the first teaser for the crime thriller «Primetime», starring Robert Pattinson in the lead role.
The film is based on real events and tells the story of journalist Chris Hansen, who rose to fame through the controversial television project «To Catch a Predator». The story is set around 2006 – the peak of the show’s popularity – when the program exposed men seeking contact with minors through online conversations.
As part of the format, a team of journalists posed as teenagers, communicated with potential offenders, arranged meetings, and secretly recorded them on hidden cameras. When the men arrived for the supposed «dates», they were met by the film crew, while the host confronted them directly on camera – often followed by police intervention.
In the teaser, Pattinson appears as Hansen, recreating his distinctive speech patterns and recognizable on-air presence. The project is also significant for the actor because it marks his first time serving as a producer on a feature-length film.
The film is directed by Lance Oppenheim, for whom «Primetime» marks his feature film debut. The cast also includes Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and singer Phoebe Bridgers.
«Primetime» is scheduled to premiere in fall 2026, although A24 has not yet announced an exact release date.
