Red dress code and diamonds: the most striking celebrity looks at the British Museum Ball 2026

Guests included Lady Kitty Spencer and Benedict Cumberbatch
The second annual British Museum Ball took place in London the previous evening.
This year, the museum’s Great Court welcomed more than 850 guests, including celebrities, designers and members of the art and social scenes, all gathering in support of a charitable cause. Funds raised during the gala will go towards supporting the British Museum and preserving its collections.
Red was the defining theme of the evening. While last year’s dress code invited guests to wear pink, this time various shades of red shaped both the festive décor and the outfits chosen by the attending stars.
One of the evening’s standout guests was Lady Kitty Spencer, the niece of Princess Diana. She wore a silk bustier dress by Dolce & Gabbana, accessorising it with diamond jewellery from London-based jeweller Chatila.

Gwendoline Christie, star of «Game of Thrones», embraced the evening’s theme in a deep-red ensemble. Her standout accessory was a fresh red rose, which she held in her hand instead of opting for a conventional evening accessory.
Natasha Lyonne, Lesley Manville and Sir Grayson Perry also embraced the red palette.
Other notable guests included Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger, who attended with his partner, ballerina Melanie Hamrick.
