Sabrina Carpenter, Benedict Cumberbatch and other stars appear in Madonna’s musical film

Ahead of the album release
Madonna is continuing to build momentum around her upcoming album «Confessions II», which is set for release on 3 July. Ahead of the launch, the 67-year-old pop icon assembled an impressive lineup of international stars for her new musical project – the short film «CONFESSIONS II – The Film», created as a visual companion to the first six tracks from the forthcoming record.

The 13-minute film introduces audiences to the previously released songs «I Feel So Free» and «Bring Your Love», alongside new tracks including «Good For The Soul», «One Step Away», «Read My Lips» and «Danceteria». The project was directed by the creative duo Torso – David Toro and Solomon Chase, who are known for their collaborations with Charli XCX. Filming took place over the course of a month in London, New York and Los Angeles.

For the production, Madonna assembled a remarkable cast of celebrities and performers. Among those appearing on screen are Sabrina Carpenter, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kate Moss, Gwendoline Christie, Julia Garner, Odessa A’zion, musician Arca, footballer Cole Palmer, as well as Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon and her longtime friend Debi Mazar.

Particular attention is drawn to the costumes, created in collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana. The film features both archival pieces from the fashion house and contemporary designs. Among them are a crystal-embellished top from the Autumn/Winter 1991 collection and a fitted dress inspired by silhouettes from the Spring/Summer 1998 collection, referencing Madonna’s iconic album «Ray of Light».

What’s more, the short film is filled with symbolic details and references to the singer’s creative journey. For example, Madonna’s blue dress echoes her look on the cover of «Ray of Light», while a scene in which she hands a cassette tape to a DJ symbolises the beginning of her musical career and her first steps toward global stardom.
