Madonna stages a concert in Times Square

To celebrate the release of her new album
Madonna has chosen a spectacular way to mark her return to the stage. Without any major announcements, the 67-year-old pop icon organised a surprise open-air concert in New York’s legendary Times Square. The performance was dedicated to the release of her new album, «Confessions II».
Although the show lasted only 15 minutes, its scale rivalled that of a full-length concert. A specially designed rotating stage was installed in the square, while dancers and a DJ joined the singer on stage. Giant screens and advertising billboards surrounding the venue displayed images of Madonna and glowed in her signature shades of pink.
The concert was completely free of charge and became a genuine surprise for both New Yorkers and visitors to the city.
The set list featured new tracks from the upcoming album – «I Feel So Free», «Love Sensation», and «Bring Your Love» – alongside some of Madonna’s most beloved hits. Among the songs performed were «Hung Up», «Get Together», and the particularly fitting «I Love New York» from the iconic 2005 album «Confessions on a Dance Floor».

The singer’s next live appearance is scheduled for 19 July, when she will perform during the halftime show of the FIFA World Cup 2026 final. She will share the stage with Shakira and members of the K-pop group BTS.
