Maiden name and prenuptial agreement: first details of Cristiano Ronaldo’s wedding

Interesting choices by the newlyweds!
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are finally husband and wife. After nearly a decade together, the couple officially tied the knot on August 11. And it appears they decided against throwing a lavish wedding with dozens of guests — at least for now.
However, the first intriguing details of their private ceremony have emerged. According to the «Daily Mail», the celebration took place at the couple’s private estate in Cascais. The property is a house Ronaldo recently purchased for around $40.5 million. A civil registrar from Porto travelled there to officiate the marriage.

None of the couple’s relatives attended the ceremony, apart from their five children and Georgina’s sister Ivana, who served as a witness alongside Ronaldo’s longtime friend Miguel Paixão. Also present were a Spanish couple — jeweller José Rodríguez Sanjil and his wife, Mónica González Martínez.
The publication also claims that Ronaldo’s family allegedly found out about his marriage just minutes before the ceremony began.

There is another interesting detail to the story: Georgina did not take her husband’s surname and will remain Rodríguez after the wedding.
Before saying «I do», the couple also took care of the financial side of their marriage. One day before the ceremony, Ronaldo and Rodríguez signed a prenuptial agreement in Lisbon. They opted for a separation-of-property regime. In simple terms, each spouse retains the assets they owned before the marriage, while any property acquired afterwards belongs to the person in whose name it is registered or who paid for it.

However, Georgina is also said to have been given additional financial guarantees. According to media reports, if the couple were to separate, Ronaldo’s house in Madrid would go to her. The footballer has also reportedly agreed to pay her around €100,000 a month for the rest of her life.

Ronaldo and Georgina’s love story began in Madrid in 2016. At the time, his future partner worked as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. The couple now have five children together: their daughters — eight-year-old Alana and four-year-old Bella — as well as Ronaldo’s three children born via surrogacy: 16-year-old Cristiano Jr. and nine-year-old twins Eva and Mateo.
