Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are officially husband and wife. The news emerged on August 11.
The couple shared a photo on Instagram showing their hands adorned with wedding rings. They kept the caption simple: «C❤️G».
Interestingly, the wedding took place exactly one year after the couple announced their engagement.
Just a few days earlier, Ronaldo’s fans had been expecting his wedding to take place in Funchal, Madeira. International media had previously reported that the ceremony could be held on August 8 at the local cathedral. We previously covered the reports in our article about the couple’s wedding preparations.
As it turned out, fans did indeed gather outside the cathedral. Thousands of people waited for the football star and his fiancée to arrive, but the couple never appeared. It later emerged that another couple was getting married at the cathedral that day. In other words, the fans had inadvertently turned up for someone else’s wedding.
Now, Ronaldo and Georgina themselves have made it clear that their wedding has taken place. For now, the couple have not revealed any details about the ceremony.
