Miuccia Prada Looks to the Wardrobe of the 1980s
Miu Miu presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection in Paris, turning this season to 1980s sportswear, preppy aesthetics and pieces that look as though they were casually discovered in an old wardrobe.
Miuccia Prada reimagined familiar track jackets, athletic shorts, broad-shouldered blazers, checked skirts and crumpled dresses, pairing them with unexpectedly elegant details. Embellished bustiers appeared over cropped tank tops, while short drawstring shorts peeked out from beneath sharply tailored blazers.
Sporty knitwear formed the foundation of layered looks, transformed into crop tops, while silk bows served primarily as decorative accents.
The show, titled «Here and Now», took place at the Palais d’Iéna. Among the models walking the runway was Gigi Hadid, who appeared in a distinctly 1980s-inspired preppy look. She wore a grey sports bra with a low-rise skirt decorated with embroidered inserts.
Denim was another important element of the collection. For the Wrangler x Miu Miu collaboration, vintage jeans from the late 20th century were reworked and updated with the brand’s signature crisscross lacing.
Crisscross lacing became one of the collection’s defining details. It replaced traditional fastenings on jeans, skirts, cocktail dresses and even footwear, giving familiar pieces a slightly unusual, deconstructed appearance.
The collection also featured another collaboration with New Balance. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the partnership between Miu Miu and the sportswear brand, with the RC150 taking centre stage. The sneaker was reimagined with technical mesh, external lacing loops and contrasting shoelaces, casually tied near the toe.
