Number of the day: Naomi Campbell’s Alexander McQueen look sells for $1.3 million

A Look from the designer’s final collection
An Alexander McQueen look once owned by Naomi Campbell has sold for $1.3 million at the Fair Warning auction house in New York. The ensemble consists of a corset, a skirt and the iconic Armadillo shoes.
The look was presented as part of the Spring/Summer 2010 collection — the final collection personally created by the designer.

Ahead of the auction, the ensemble was estimated at $600,000 to $1 million, but the final price exceeded expectations.
A total of 23 historic haute couture pieces were sold as part of the «The Impossible Couture Collection» auction. The lots achieved a combined value of $3.2 million.

Among them was a 1965–1966 Yves Saint Laurent dress featuring a print inspired by the paintings of Piet Mondrian. An Azzedine Alaïa dress worn by Rihanna was also sold.

Another notable lot was a John Galliano look from the Spring/Summer 1995 «Misia Diva» collection. Madonna wore the ensemble in her «Take a Bow» music video.
