Julianne Moore receives an honorary award at the Rome Film Festival
In recognition of her contribution to cinema
Julianne Moore was one of the standout stars at the Rome Film Festival, where she received an honorary award in recognition of her contribution to cinema. The actress was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by fellow actor Jesse Eisenberg.
Accepting the award, the 65-year-old actress reflected on the early days of her career and admitted that she could never have imagined that her work would one day be recognised at such a level.
«It’s a great honour. It’s wonderful to be here in Italy, in Rome, and to see my work being appreciated. When I think back to the beginning of my career … If someone had told me as a teenager that I would receive an award in Rome many years later, I would have exclaimed, ‘That’s crazy!’», Moore said, according to Vogue.
The actress travelled to Rome to present the musical comedy «The Getaway», directed by Jesse Eisenberg. Moore plays Mona Friedman, a housewife who unexpectedly lands a role in an amateur musical. The experience prompts her to look at herself and her life from a fresh perspective.
The actress explained that she particularly enjoys portraying women with complex personalities who gradually discover new sides of themselves. Stories like these offer an opportunity to explore how people change, find the courage to try something new and discover unexpected possibilities.
Moore also thanked the film’s team, emphasising that their collaboration had brought her to the festival.
«I wouldn’t be receiving this lifetime achievement award today if I hadn’t come here with this wonderful film», she said.
For her appearance on the red carpet, Julianne Moore chose a look by American designer Colleen Allen. The ensemble featured a crinkled velvet blouse with sheer cuffs and a long skirt.
