Barbie releases a ballerina doll to celebrate the 25th anniversary of «Barbie in the Nutcracker»

For ballet lovers
Mattel is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the animated film «Barbie in the Nutcracker», released in 2001. The movie marked the beginning of the first full-length animated film series featuring the iconic doll.
To mark the occasion, the brand has created a new toy collection in collaboration with Teatro alla Scala in Milan, one of the world’s most renowned opera and ballet venues. Mattel has also announced a fresh take on the beloved fairy tale.

For the anniversary, Mattel is bringing back familiar characters and the distinctive aesthetic of the original film.

The collection features eight dolls and figures, including Clara, Daisy, the Sugar Plum Fairy, Chelsea dressed as a snow fairy, ballerina figures and horses. The toys are designed to inspire fans to recreate their favourite scenes and invent their own stories set in the magical world of the fairy tale.
One of the highlights is the collectible Barbie Signature Sugar Plum Princess doll, which will be available exclusively through Amazon in the United States. It is expected to retail for around $60.

In addition, a new 45-minute animated special will premiere on Netflix on November 1. The production offers a modern retelling of the familiar story of Barbie and the Nutcracker.
