Quentin Tarantino to make theatre debut with his own play

Sacha Baron Cohen to star in the lead role
After a seven-year break from filmmaking, Quentin Tarantino is finally preparing his next project — but this time, it will be for the stage rather than the big screen.
The director is set to make his theatre debut with his own play, «The Popinjay Cavalier», starring Sacha Baron Cohen in the lead role, according to «Variety».

For the 63-year-old Tarantino, this marks his first experience as a theatre director and playwright. The production is an adventure comedy centred on deception, cunning and disguise, set in Europe during the 1830s.
Tarantino drew inspiration from the adventure films of classic Hollywood.

The production will also mark the theatrical debut of 54-year-old Sacha Baron Cohen. The actor rose to fame playing a Kazakh journalist in the film «Borat» — a performance that earned him a Golden Globe.
Preview performances of «The Popinjay Cavalier» are scheduled to begin on 23 February 2027, with the official premiere taking place on 18 March at London’s Phoenix Theatre.
