Prince George turns 13: the Royal Family shares a new portrait of the future king

Prince George, the eldest son of Prince William and Princess Catherine, celebrates his 13th birthday today. To mark the occasion, the Prince and Princess of Wales traditionally released a new official portrait of their son.
In the photograph, published on the official Kensington Palace social media channels, George is seen wearing a dark classic suit paired with a white open-collar shirt, standing casually with his hands in his pockets. The portrait was taken by British photographer Matt Porteous, who has worked with the Wales family for many years. It was captured at Kensington Palace shortly after June’s Trooping the Colour parade, held in celebration of King Charles III’s official birthday.
The image was accompanied by the simple caption: «Happy 13th Birthday, George!»
The new portrait quickly sparked widespread discussion online. Many social media users commented on how much the young prince has grown up and noted his striking resemblance to his father, Prince William. Others pointed out the unmistakable features of the Spencer family – the family of his late grandmother, Princess Diana.
This year’s birthday also marks an important milestone for George. This autumn, he is expected to begin a new chapter as a student at the prestigious Eton College, where his father, Prince William, his uncle, Prince Harry, and Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, were all educated. Founded in the 15th century, the school has also produced twenty British prime ministers, including David Cameron and Boris Johnson. According to British media reports, annual tuition fees at Eton are approximately £65,000.
Prince George is currently second in line to the British throne, following his father, Prince William. Although he is taking part in public engagements with the Royal Family more frequently, the Prince and Princess of Wales remain committed to giving their son as normal a childhood as possible while carefully preparing him for his future role as monarch.
