Gilded Age residence listed for $4.2 million
The property belongs to Coach executives
Coach executives have put a historic estate in Briarcliff Manor, near New York, on the market for $4.195 million.
The property spans approximately 530 square metres, while the house sits on a plot of more than one hectare.
The estate dates back more than a century. In 1900, Walter Law, the founder of Briarcliff Manor and the county’s largest landowner at the time, commissioned the house.
It was intended to eventually pass to his daughter, Edith, and its design was inspired by George Washington’s famous Mount Vernon estate in Virginia.
Because of its resemblance to the home of the first US president, the house acquired the unofficial name «Little Mount Vernon».
In 2022, Coach acquired the property and renovated the historic house while preserving as much of its original character as possible. The residence retains its original woodwork, fireplaces, substantial sliding doors, parquet floors, wrought-iron railings and elements of the staircase.
The exterior features a classic Colonial-style design. The white façade is complemented by a covered entrance porch with columns, a high slate roof and large windows with white frames.
The grounds feature a garden, a small vegetable garden, a terrace and a fire pit. The property directly borders a protected natural area, providing a sense of peace and privacy.
