Dua Lipa gives her first interview since marrying Callum Turner

British pop star Dua Lipa is the cover star of the September issue of Vogue Italia, where she gives her first interview since marrying actor Callum Turner. The singer, who recently celebrated her 31st birthday, opens up about this new chapter of her life, her relationship with her husband, her career and the way she sees herself.
According to Lipa, she and Turner received plenty of advice ahead of their wedding, but decided to follow only two pieces of it. The first was not to think of themselves as the main characters at a major event, but rather to behave as though they had come to the celebration as guests themselves.
«We decided to spend the day as if we were guests ourselves. It made us less nervous and allowed us to have much more fun», Dua says.
The second rule was to keep finding each other’s eyes among the guests. It may sound like a small thing, but it helped the couple stay connected amid the whirlwind of the celebration and focus on one another.
«Callum and I kept trying to find each other among the people so that we wouldn’t lose sight of each other. Because of that, we have so many shared memories», the singer shares.
After turning 30, Lipa says she began looking at life in a completely different way. While she used to be inclined to control everything and demand perfection from herself, she has now learned to leave room for spontaneity.
«A few years ago, I would never have done something like that. I was too much of a perfectionist. But I left that part of myself in my twenties», the artist says.
These days, Dua places greater value on simple things, personal comfort and the freedom to be herself.
«I’m interested in different things now — or, more precisely, in things that feel more human and real. Over time, I’ve learned to be kinder to myself», she admits.
Dua also says she feels lucky to have found a husband who understands her approach to work and her constant desire to grow.
«I’m lucky to be with someone who loves working just as much as I do. We understand and support each other», the singer says.
She also admits: «I feel at home wherever my husband is».
The singer also spoke about music and how her creative interests have evolved.
In the past, her songs often grew out of stories about searching for love, breakups and heartbreak. Now that she has found love, she wants to explore a different side of relationships in her music — not the moment of falling in love, but what happens afterward.
«Now I want to find out what happens after you find love. I’m interested in the complexity of relationships, their quieter moments, the little things», Lipa explains.
During her conversation with Vogue, Lipa also reflected on her childhood and her family history.
Her parents are originally from Kosovo. In 1992, they moved to London to escape the war, and after the conflict ended, they returned to Pristina.
At 15, Dua herself moved to London once again: «I loved living in Kosovo, but I felt that London, where I was born, could offer me more opportunities. So, at 15, I returned there on my own».
Her parents supported their daughter’s decision and believed in her dream: «My parents trusted me and believed in me. We had always been friends, but after that decision, they became my best friends».
In London, the future star finished school, took a gap year, worked as a waitress and sent out music demos.
