Cristiano Ronaldo makes his acting debut
A new chapter in the football star’s career
Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is set to make his acting debut. The Portugal national team captain and Al-Nassr forward will appear in the scripted television series «Day 1s», according to The Sun.
The new drama tells the fictional story of influential British football agent Stanley Dalton. The series is based on an original concept by real-life football agent Darren Dein, who has also joined the project as an executive producer. Filming for «Day 1s» is already underway in London.
The lead role will be played by Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis, best known for «Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood» and the hit series «Billions» and «Band of Brothers».
Ronaldo will be joined on screen by another football legend — Thierry Henry — as well as British rapper Dave.
For Cristiano Ronaldo, «Day 1s» marks a double debut. Not only will it be his first acting role, but he will also serve as an executive producer.
The series will become the first television production from URMarv Studios, the company Ronaldo co-founded with British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn — the creator of the Kingsman franchise, director of «X-Men: First Class», and producer of the cult classic «Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels».
Ronaldo described the project as a new milestone in his professional journey.
«This is an incredibly exciting chapter because I’m exploring a completely new direction in my career», the 41-year-old football star said.
