Actress Selma Blair sparks major controversy aboard a Delta flight

Details of the Incident
American actress Selma Blair, known for her roles in «Legally Blonde» and «Hellboy», has found herself at the centre of a controversy following an incident aboard a Delta flight. During the journey, the 54-year-old star allegedly attacked two crew members and attempted to open an aircraft door. She has now been charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, while the FBI is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to «TMZ», one flight attendant sustained a laceration during the altercation, while the other was bitten. The actress also struck her head against a partition, injuring herself. She was restrained for the remainder of the flight, and medical personnel and police were waiting at the airport when the plane landed.
The incident did not end there. According to media reports, while lying on a stretcher, Blair managed to free one of her legs and allegedly struck a female police officer in the face, neck and chest. Later, at the hospital where she had been taken for an examination, investigators allege that she struck a nurse in the chest.

A New York court charged Blair with two counts of assault in the second degree and set bail at $20,000. Her next court hearing is scheduled for January.
The actress is known to be living with a serious medical condition — multiple sclerosis. A representative for Blair said the incident occurred amid a sudden medical emergency:
«Selma experienced an acute medical emergency that led to the actions she is being accused of. She received medical attention immediately after landing and is now in stable condition.»

This is not the first time the actress has experienced a similar episode during air travel. In 2016, she also had to be carried off a plane on a stretcher following an emotional breakdown on board. Blair later explained that her behaviour at the time had been caused by a combination of alcohol and prescription medication.
