Dua Lipa Demands $15 Million from Samsung

Over the use of her photo
British pop star Dua Lipa has filed a lawsuit against Samsung, accusing the technology giant of unlawfully using her image to advertise televisions.
According to Variety, the singer’s representatives submitted a complaint to a federal court in California, alleging that Samsung used her photograph on television packaging sold across the United States without her permission.
The image in question was reportedly taken backstage at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2024.

According to Dua Lipa’s legal team, the company used the photograph as part of a large-scale advertising campaign, creating the impression that the artist officially endorsed the brand and promoted its products. However, no collaboration between the singer and Samsung ever existed.
The lawsuit further states that the star was not even aware that her likeness had been used. As a result, the artist is seeking $15 million in damages from Samsung.

Representatives for Dua Lipa also claim that after learning of the situation, they repeatedly demanded that Samsung cease using the image. According to them, however, the company ignored those requests.
