On Saint Patrick’s Day, Catherine, Princess of Wales attended the parade of the Irish Guards. In keeping with tradition, the princess presented shamrock sprigs to the officers and guards, as well as to the regimental mascot — an Irish Wolfhound.

After the event, Kate Middleton awarded medals to servicemen for long service and exemplary conduct and met with junior cadets from Northern Ireland.

For the parade, the Princess of Wales wore an ensemble in the traditional colours of Saint Patrick’s Day: an emerald coat cinched at the waist with a black leather belt and a matching pillbox hat adorned with a bow. She completed the look with black heeled boots, coordinating black gloves, and a scarf in a matching tone.
