Number of the day: Elon Musk becomes the first person with a net worth over $800 Billion

New record
American entrepreneur Elon Musk has become the first person in the world whose net worth exceeds $800 billion, Forbes reports.
This milestone came after his company SpaceX acquired xAI – Musk’s artificial intelligence startup that created the chatbot Grok. According to Forbes, the deal increased Musk’s net worth by $84 billion, bringing it to a record $852 billion.
Before the acquisition, Musk owned approximately 42% of SpaceX shares, valued at $336 billion, and around 49% of xAI shares, worth $122 billion.
After the merger of the two companies, Forbes calculated that Musk now controls 43% of the combined entity, valued at $542 billion. This makes SpaceX his most valuable asset.
In addition, Musk owns 12% of Tesla shares, estimated at $178 billion, and holds stock options worth another $124 billion.
As Forbes notes, this is already the second instance within a year of Musk’s companies merging: last March, he announced the merger of xAI with the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Currently, Musk’s wealth exceeds that of the world’s second-richest person – Google co-founder Larry Page – by $578 billion. Page’s net worth is estimated at $281 billion. This means Musk needs roughly half of that amount to become the world’s first trillionaire.
