«The Ring» star Daveigh Chase dies

American actress Daveigh Chase, best known for her role as Samara Morgan in the cult horror film «The Ring» and for voicing Lilo in the animated feature «Lilo & Stitch», has died at the age of 35.
The sad news was confirmed by her family and her manager, John Ryan Jr. According to their statement, Chase passed away on June 16 at a hospital in Los Angeles. The cause of death was complications resulting from meningitis and a blood infection that led to sepsis.
Chase began her acting career as a child. She appeared in films including «Donnie Darko», «A.I. Artificial Intelligence», and «Beethoven’s 5th», and also starred in television series such as «ER», «Sabrina the Teenage Witch», and «Charmed».
She rose to international fame with her portrayal of Samara Morgan in the 2002 horror hit «The Ring». For the role, she received the MTV Movie Award for «Best Villain». Another significant milestone in her career was voicing the lead character in «Lilo & Stitch», a performance that earned her an Annie Award.
In recent years, the actress lived a notably private life and rarely appeared on screen. According to her manager, she deliberately chose to focus on independent film projects and devoted much of her time to animal rescue efforts.
