«The Housemaid» is getting a sequel: release date and cast announced

The film is set to arrive in theaters next year
«The Housemaid» is getting a sequel. The second installment, titled «The Housemaid’s Secret», is scheduled to premiere on December 17, 2027, Deadline reports.
The film will continue the story of Millie Calloway and, like the first installment, will be based on a novel by American author Freida McFadden.

Sydney Sweeney will return in the lead role for the sequel. She will once again play Millie — a young woman who, after the events of the first film, decides to start a new life and takes a job as a housemaid in another home. However, what initially appears to be a quiet job soon turns into another dangerous ordeal.

In the sequel, Millie barely ever sees the woman who owns the house, while something unsettling is happening behind one of the locked doors. As events unfold, she begins to question everyone around her. According to media reports, the mystery Millie uncovers this time promises to be even darker than the events of the first film. Sweeney will also serve as one of the executive producers.
Hollywood star Kirsten Dunst is joining the cast. She will play Wendy Garrick, the owner of the house. Her husband, billionaire Douglas Garrick, will be played by Paul Anthony Kelly, known for «American Love Story». Brittany Snow will also appear in the film.

Michele Morrone will reprise his role as the gardener, Enzo. Meanwhile, Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar will not return for the second installment.
As with the first film, the sequel will be directed by Paul Feig. Production on «The Housemaid’s Secret» is scheduled to begin in fall 2026.
