The Harry Potter Series Officially Renewed for a Second Season
Even before the premiere of Season One
The Harry Potter television series has officially been renewed for a second season. HBO made the decision even before the premiere of the first installment, which is scheduled for release this winter.
The second season will be based on the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, with filming set to begin in autumn 2026. John Brown, who worked as a writer on the first season, has been appointed co-showrunner alongside Francesca Gardiner. HBO reportedly plans to adapt all seven books into seven separate seasons.
In the first episodes, Harry (Dominic McLaughlin) meets his future best friends — Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout) and Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton) — is sorted at Hogwarts, attends Herbology classes, and plays Quidditch in Gryffindor colors. The project’s score was composed by Hans Zimmer.
Earlier, the trailer for the new Harry Potter series broke viewing records, surpassing 277 million views within its first 48 hours.
