Rihanna portrays African queens on the cover of EE72

Styled by Edward Enninful
American pop superstar and designer Rihanna has become the cover star of EE72’s summer issue, showcasing a series of striking looks inspired by African queens from different historical eras.

The creative concept was developed by Edward Enninful, the magazine’s founder and one of the most influential figures in the global fashion industry.
According to Enninful, the creative team drew inspiration not only from portraits of African monarchs but also sought to create something far more meaningful than a traditional fashion editorial.

«Rihanna does not follow trends – she shapes the culture we live in. For this cover, we wanted to draw on her profound understanding of fashion and art to create a truly majestic project», the editor explained.

For the fashion story photographed by Silvester Mako, the 38-year-old singer – who recently welcomed her third child – modelled a range of vibrant creations from some of the world’s leading luxury fashion houses. The editorial features designs by Schiaparelli, Valentino, Givenchy, Dior, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, Wolford and Giuseppe Zanotti.
