Emmy Awards 2026 nominees announced

«The Pitt» leads this year’s contenders

The Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards, widely regarded as television’s equivalent of the Oscars. The awards ceremony will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with actress and producer Mariska Hargitay serving as host.

This year’s top nominee is the medical drama «The Pitt», which earned an impressive 25 nominations. The series is also competing for Outstanding Drama Series, while its lead actor, Noah Wyle, is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The second-highest number of nominations went to the final season of the comedy «Hacks», which received 24 nominations. With this achievement, the series has set a new record for the most Emmy nominations ever earned by a comedy series in a single season.

Other major contenders include the horror comedy «Widow’s Bay» with 19 nominations, the science fiction drama «Pluribus» with 18, and the second season of «Beef», which will compete in 16 categories.

The nominees for Outstanding Drama Series are «The Diplomat», «The Gilded Age», «A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms», «Paradise», «The Pitt», «Pluribus», «Slow Horses», and «Your Friends & Neighbors».

Competing for Outstanding Comedy Series are «Abbott Elementary», «The Bear», «Hacks», «Margo’s Got Money Troubles», «Nobody Wants This», «Only Murders in the Building», «Shrinking», and «Widow’s Bay».

Sarah Pidgeon received her first Emmy nomination this year. She was recognized for her performance in «American Love Story» and is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
