Ariana Grande is taking a break from her career — here’s why

A forced timeout
American pop star Ariana Grande has announced that she will be taking a break from her career following the conclusion of her «Eternal Sunshine» world tour. According to People, the singer has decided to step away after becoming exhausted by the constant scrutiny of her appearance and the endless online discussions surrounding her health.

The final show of the tour is scheduled for 1 September. After that, the 33-year-old singer plans to put new projects on hold, step away from the public eye and devote some time to rest and recovery.
Sources close to the artist say that while the «Eternal Sunshine» tour has been a deeply meaningful experience for Grande, the relentless public attention — particularly the ongoing comments about her appearance — has become increasingly draining in recent months.

As part of her decision to take time off, Grande has also withdrawn from the upcoming production of «Sunday in the Park with George». The musical was due to premiere next summer at London’s Barbican Centre, where she had been set to star alongside her «Wicked» co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Over the past few months, Ariana Grande has repeatedly found herself at the centre of public discussion because of her noticeable weight loss. Following the release of the music video for «Petal» on 31 July, those conversations intensified even further. While many fans expressed concern for her well-being, others criticised the singer for allegedly promoting unhealthy beauty standards.
Grande has repeatedly urged people to stop commenting on other people’s appearances. During the promotional campaign for «Wicked: Forever», she said that such remarks can be deeply hurtful, especially for someone constantly living under public scrutiny.
The subject has also found its way into her music. In «Yes, And?», from her 2024 album «Eternal Sunshine», Grande directly addresses the public, asking people to stop commenting on her body.
