Serena Williams designs nearly $96,000 Audemars Piguet watch

Serena Williams has taken on a new role — the tennis star has co-designed a new Audemars Piguet timepiece. Named the «Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph», the watch marks another chapter in the athlete’s 12-year collaboration with the Swiss luxury watchmaker.
The design is based on the «Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph», a model Audemars Piguet has been producing since 1997. For the limited edition, Williams chose a combination of white and pink: the case and bracelet are crafted entirely from white ceramic, while the dial is finished with pink mother-of-pearl.
The watch features a 38-millimeter case. The white ceramic was hand-finished using a combination of satin brushing and faceted polishing, highlighting the distinctive geometric lines of the «Royal Oak» collection.
The pink mother-of-pearl dial is one of the model’s key features. According to the brand, it symbolizes feminine energy, intuition and inner strength. Its iridescent surface adds a softer touch to the watch while creating a striking contrast with the sporty character of the chronograph.
«Working with Audemars Piguet on this watch was especially meaningful to me because it reflects so many sides of my personality. I’ve always believed that strength and feminine energy can exist side by side. People often see strength, determination and a competitive spirit, but behind them there is also creativity, intuition and joy», the 44-year-old athlete said.
The limited-edition model is priced at $95,900.
