Sarah Jessica Parker on style, shoes and the lessons she learned from her mother — for Vogue Brazil

She opens up about personal stories
«Sex and the City» star Sarah Jessica Parker is the face of the new issue of Vogue Brazil. The 61-year-old actress graces the cover in a delicate pale-yellow midi dress, paired with sandals featuring a floral appliqué. She is also the star of a campaign for Brazilian brand Arezzo titled «Obsessed with Shoes. In Every Scene».
In the interview, Parker spoke about her relationship with fashion, her love of shoes and her special connection to New York. The actress also looked back on her childhood and revealed that her mother played a defining role in shaping her sense of style.

«My mother had wonderful taste, and she taught us that style has nothing to do with money, but everything to do with curiosity, care and imagination», Sarah Jessica said.
She noted that she grew up in a large family where money was scarce. Buying a new pair of shoes was therefore far from a weekly occurrence. Each pair had to be chosen particularly carefully because it was expected to last a long time. According to the actress, that was when her special love of shoes began.
«I think that’s when my love of shoes began. Even as a child, I saw them as something that could transform», she admitted.

Parker believes that true style should not be confused with constantly chasing trends. In her view, fashion changes, but individuality remains.
«Style is much more personal than it is connected to fashion. Trends come and go, but the people we remember most dress in a way that reflects who they are», the actress said.

One particularly meaningful pair holds a special place in the star’s wardrobe — the shoes she chose for her own wedding. Rather than classic, statement-making shoes with very high heels, she opted for a more understated velvet design in a jade blue-green shade with a classic heel.
«They were personal, practical and quietly special — which is usually what I love most about shoes», the actress said.
At the same time, Sarah Jessica does not believe that shoes necessarily have to be extravagant. What matters most is that they complement the look and help a person express themselves — through personality, confidence or even a sense of humor.

Speaking about her career, the actress also reflected on New York — the city that has become an inseparable part of her personal and professional story. It was there that she worked on Arezzo’s new campaign, bringing together two things she is so often associated with — fashion and shoes.
«New York is such an important part of my life, both personally and professionally, and shoes have been a constant character in that story», Parker concluded.
