The next chapter of the iconic dystopian saga
Amazon Prime Video has unveiled the first teaser for the series «Blade Runner 2099».
The new project continues the story of Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed franchise, transporting viewers to a world set 50 years after the events of «Blade Runner 2049».
According to the plot, following an uprising, the replicants have seized control of Los Angeles, leaving humans to live as second-class citizens.
At the center of the story are Olwen, a replicant and blade runner portrayed by Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh, and Cora, played by «Euphoria» star Hunter Schafer. Cora is a human forced to pose as a replicant in order to survive.
Like the previous adaptations, the series is based on Philip K. Dick’s legendary novel «Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?», which served as the foundation for the entire franchise.
The series is helmed by showrunner Silka Luisa, best known for her work on «Shining Girls». Notably, director Ridley Scott also contributed to the development of the new project.
The first season premieres on November 25 this year and will consist of eight episodes.
