New Zealand actor Sam Neill has died at the age of 78. Millions of viewers around the world knew him for his iconic portrayal of Dr. Alan Grant in the legendary «Jurassic Park» franchise.
According to the Daily Mail, citing the actor’s family, Sam Neill passed away on July 13 in Sydney, surrounded by his loved ones. His relatives have not disclosed the cause of death. They described the loss as unexpected and asked for privacy as they mourn during this difficult time.

It is known that the actor had been battling a serious illness in recent years. In 2022, he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma. After chemotherapy failed to produce the desired results, Neill agreed to undergo an experimental treatment. The therapy proved successful, and earlier this spring he announced that his cancer had gone into remission.
At the time, Sam Neill spoke optimistically about the future and even planned to return to work on new projects. However, according to Western media reports, he suddenly fell ill on July 13 and was taken to a hospital in Sydney. His family later confirmed his passing.

Sam Neill began his acting career in the 1970s and went on to become one of New Zealand’s most celebrated performers.
