Season six of Emily in Paris will be the show’s final chapter
The announcement was made by the creator of the series
Netflix has officially confirmed that Emily in Paris will come to an end after its sixth season. The news was shared by the show’s creator Darren Star and lead actress Lily Collins, who also addressed fans in a new video released by the streaming platform.
Filming for the final season has already begun in Greece. The production will then move to Monaco before concluding, as tradition dictates, in Paris.
Lily Collins admitted that playing Emily Cooper has been one of the most meaningful chapters of her life.
«After six unforgettable years as Emily Cooper, I want to share that the upcoming season will be our last. It will include everything viewers have loved about this series, while giving the story a beautiful and heartfelt ending», the actress said.
Darren Star, in turn, thanked Netflix, the project’s team, and the audience, calling his work on the show «the journey of a lifetime».
«We can’t wait to share this final chapter with you. Thank you for allowing us to become part of your lives, to dream about travel together, and to fall in love with Paris alongside us», the showrunner noted.
Since premiering in 2020, Emily in Paris has become one of Netflix’s most successful romantic series. Across five seasons, the project spent a total of 32 weeks in the platform’s global Top 10 for English-language series, while reaching the number-one spot in 90 countries.
The story follows Emily Cooper, an American woman who moves from Chicago to Paris to work at a marketing agency. In her new city, she tries to balance career ambitions, personal life, friendships, and complicated romantic relationships.
The final season will see the return of Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Samuel Arnold, and other members of the main cast. The new episodes will continue the storyline of season five, in which Emily spends time in Rome and begins a romance with Marcello, only to realize that her life remains inseparably tied to Paris.
Fans are already speculating that the series finale may end with the long-awaited reunion of Emily and Gabriel – a relationship viewers have followed since the very first season.
