The intersection of tradition and futuristic vision in the Chanel FW ’26/27 collection

Elongated silhouettes, vertical lines, and tweed
In Paris, during Fashion Week, the House of Chanel presented its Autumn-Winter 2026/27 collection, designed by Creative Director Matthieu Blazy. The show took place in the Grand Palais, where the runway resembled a construction site with colorful cranes – a symbol of play, experimentation, and the constant motion of the fashion house.

Blazy continues the dialogue with the legacy of founder Gabrielle «Coco» Chanel, blending the house’s classic codes with contemporary shapes, materials, and concepts. This fusion can be seen as a meeting point between the history and the future of fashion – from restrained lines to technological innovations in textiles.

At the heart of the season are elongated silhouettes: loose blazers and low-waist dresses, structured tweed suits in new variations and horizontal proportions, as well as more relaxed knitwear pieces. Blazy employs metallic knits, silicone, and Lurex, giving traditional fabrics a modern resonance that echoes both archival and futuristic elements.

The collection’s looks were complemented by accessories: suede bags and designs with kinetic clasps, evening miniaudières shaped like pomegranates, statement pieces in enamel, resin, and mother-of-pearl, and embroidery featuring floral and insect motifs – all contributing to fully realized, unique ensembles.

Special attention was given to eveningwear: dresses and sets with shimmering surfaces, beadwork, and rich colors, evoking the spirit of the 1920s – the era in which Coco Chanel revolutionized women’s fashion.

The fabrics play with contrasts: glossy surfaces juxtapose matte textures, metallic threads intertwine with soft jersey, creating a sense of futuristic yet timeless elegance.

According to Matthieu Blazy, the collection was built around a Coco Chanel quote on the contrast between everyday and evening wear: «We need dresses that crawl, and dresses that fly» – an idea reflecting the balance between functionality and fantasy.

The FW 2026/27 collection embodies memory and modernity, merging Coco Chanel’s revolutionary spirit with the vision of one of the most influential fashion houses on the global stage.
