Victoria Swarovski shares her extreme experience at the 2026 Dakar Rally
«It was incredibly tough»
Austrian pop singer, entrepreneur, and heir to the multi-billion-dollar Swarovski empire, Victoria Swarovski, has spoken for the first time about her participation in the 2026 Dakar Rally, calling the race the most challenging experience of her life.
«Without a doubt, it was the hardest thing I have ever done», she admitted.
Swarovski particularly emphasized the contribution of her entire team, noting that finishing would have been impossible without their support.
«Your dedication, passion, and teamwork carried us to the finish line», she wrote on social media.
Victoria dedicated a separate, very heartfelt post to her co-driver, Stefan Henken, with whom she spent two weeks in the same vehicle. She called him a true hero and stressed that this Dakar would have been completely different without him.
Her personal support also received special mention. Swarovski thanked her «great love», Mark Mateschitz, highlighting that without him, she not only would not have started, but probably would not have dared to participate at all.
«Your support made everything possible», Victoria admitted.
For the couple, it was their Dakar debut. Mark Mateschitz, racing under the name Mark Mustermann, finished the race in a powerful Toyota Hilux, more than ten hours behind, in 57th place. Victoria Swarovski, together with her German co-driver Stefan Henken, drove an ultra-light Can-Am Maverick R buggy, finishing 98th overall.
As a reminder, the Dakar Rally is considered one of the toughest and most prestigious off-road competitions in the world. It is a multi-stage race through deserts and rough terrain, where participants cover thousands of kilometers under extreme conditions – from scorching heat and sand dunes to technically challenging special stages. Reaching the Dakar finish line is a significant achievement even for professional racers, requiring exceptional physical endurance, preparation, and teamwork.
