Sydney Sweeney, once known for her natural blonde locks, has undergone a striking transformation into a sultry brunette for the new trailer of the biographical film Christy. According to industry experts, the biopic is expected to earn the 27-year-old actress an Academy Award nomination.
In the film, Sweeney portrays Christy Martin — the legendary boxer who claimed 49 victories throughout her brilliant career, 31 of them by knockout. Martin also became the first female boxer to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020. The movie chronicles her journey from a small-town athlete to a professional who forever changed the world of boxing.
Sweeney shared the trailer on her blog, revealing her transformation. To embody Christy, she gained 15 kilograms, a process that required months of rigorous training and a high-protein diet, as she revealed in an interview with Deadline.
«I loved it. I truly felt Christy’s strength as I transformed,» she shared. «I really enjoyed the training and working with incredible boxing coaches and nutritionists who helped me reach the level needed to play Christy. It’s amazing to fully step into the role of such a powerful woman. I felt even stronger myself. It was truly inspiring,» Sweeney said.
