Mayhem: listening to Lady Gaga’s new album

Among the songs – the chart-topping Abracadabra
Lady Gaga has unveiled her new studio album, Mayhem, marking her return to her «pop music roots». The album consists of 14 tracks, including Disease, Die with a Smile, and Abracadabra. The latter continues to break records across social media and various music platforms. For instance, on Apple Music, the song currently holds the No. 1 spot.

The singer was inspired by the works of Prince, Michael Jackson, and David Bowie while creating the album.
Despite the grandiose release, blending classic EDM with elements of nu-disco and pop-rock, Gaga shares deeply personal stories. For example, the track Blade of Grass is dedicated to her fiancé, Michael Polansky, while Zombieboy is a tribute to her late friend, who passed away in 2010. Overall, this album is a must-listen (and the lyrics are worth reading too!).

The album’s production was led by Gesaffelstein (without whom brat by Charli XCX wouldn’t have happened), Andrew Watt, and Circut.
Mayhem combines a reinterpretation of Gaga’s early work with a new artistic vision. The singer has compared her creative journey to a shattered mirror:
«Even if you can’t piece the fragments back into their original form, you can create something new, beautiful, and whole», says Lady Gaga.
This concept is also reflected in the album cover design.
By the way, some social media users have already called Mayhem Gaga’s best album since Born This Way in 2011.
