Meghan Markle recreates Princess Diana’s iconic look

The purple sweatshirt
Meghan Markle has actively started using social media, which she was previously forbidden to do as a working member of the royal family. Recently, the Duchess posted a series of videos filmed at her home in Montecito.
Although Prince Harry’s wife has yet to master video editing and the art of storytelling, there is no doubt that she is managing her account independently.
However, it wasn’t the content of the videos that caught the public’s attention but rather Meghan’s outfit. She appeared on camera wearing an iconic purple Northwestern sweatshirt – the same one Princess Diana wore in the last years of her life in 1996.
This sweater was gifted to Lady Di in 1995 during her visit to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where she participated in a fundraising event for the Robert Lurie Cancer Center. Today, this sweatshirt is often referred to as the «Princess Diana sweater».
It is likely that Meghan’s choice of outfit was not accidental. She may have worn it as a tribute to her late mother-in-law or as a nostalgic nod to her own college years. After all, the Duchess also studied at Northwestern University, earning a degree in theater and international relations in 2003.
«A little weekend break to enjoy the sunshine», Markle captioned one of the videos.
