The Queen and fashion: Buckingham Palace announces exhibition on the style of Elizabeth II

To mark the 100th anniversary of her birth
Buckingham Palace has announced a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the centenary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s birth.
The exhibition, titled «Queen Elizabeth II: Her Fashionable Life,» will open in spring 2026. It will feature around 200 items from the late Queen’s personal wardrobe, many of which will be displayed for the first time. Among the exhibits will be childhood outfits, ensembles for public engagements, riding attire, as well as the legendary wedding dress and coronation gown designed by Sir Norman Hartnell.
«The goal of the exhibition is to tell the story of the monarch’s long reign through her style — from birth to maturity, from princess to queen, from everyday looks to state visit attire,» emphasized curator Caroline de Guitaut, as stated on the official royal family social media page.
In addition to clothing, visitors will see sketches, fabrics, and personal correspondence that reveal the behind-the-scenes process of creating the Queen’s outfits. Elizabeth II remains one of the most iconic figures of the 20th century, having reigned for 70 years.
Ticket sales will begin in November 2025, and the exhibition will run from spring to autumn 2026. A book about the exhibition is also planned for release in March next year.
