277 million in the first 48 hours

The trailer for the series Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone — a new television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s book series — has surpassed 277 million views within its first 48 hours. It has become the most-watched trailer in the history of HBO and HBO Max streaming platforms, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The first season is based on the book of the same name, with each subsequent season expected to adapt the remaining installments of the series. The trailer shows Harry (Dominic McLaughlin) meeting his future best friends—Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout) and Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton), trying on the Sorting Hat at Hogwarts, attending Herbology classes, and playing Quidditch in Gryffindor uniform.

The series is set to premiere at the end of December 2026.
