Time magazine has named Leonardo DiCaprio the Artist of the Year 2025. To mark the occasion, the 51-year-old actor appears as the issue’s central figure and features on its new cover.

Among the reasons he was awarded the title this year, Time highlights DiCaprio’s performance in «Battle by Battle», a political thriller directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film has become the frontrunner in Golden Globe nominations and is widely seen as a strong contender for the Oscars.

According to the editorial team, DiCaprio has spent more than three decades deliberately choosing complex – and at times uncomfortable – characters, while never repeating roles he has already played. That is why, the magazine notes, he has «a face we never tire of watching».

«DiCaprio, a seven-time Oscar nominee and one-time winner, has a remarkable talent for making choices that may seem wrong at first glance but ultimately prove to be right. Perhaps it’s simply intuition he knows how to trust. He works with people he believes in and invests in projects he is genuinely passionate about», the publication comments.

The magazine also points out that his popularity is sustained not only by his professional decisions, but by his natural magnetism: even after 30 years in cinema, audiences still want to see him on screen – «perhaps even more than before».

The article also emphasizes the actor’s unique approach to publicity: he rarely gives interviews and seldom appears in the media, which only heightens interest in each of his new projects.

Throughout his career, DiCaprio has appeared in more than 50 films and has received an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA Award, a Silver Bear, and many other honors.

The American magazine Time has traditionally named its Woman of the Year. In 2025, the title was awarded to Nicole Kidman – an Oscar and five-time Golden Globe winner. She joins a list of other notable women, including basketball player A’ja Wilson and gymnast Jordan Chiles.

«Time’s Women of the Year – 2025 exemplify visionary leadership. They inspire global change through their unwavering commitment to building a more just future for all», the publication stated.

Nicole Kidman owes this title largely to her role in the provocative film Babygirl, which explores the nature of female sexuality. However, this is far from her only achievement. In 2017, she pledged to regularly collaborate with female directors to support women in the film industry. The star not only fulfilled her promise but significantly exceeded it.

The Oscar-winning actress also appeared on the cover of Time and participated in a photoshoot conceptualized and styled by Stella Greenspan.

The list of outstanding women of the year also includes human rights advocate Gisselle Pelico, a survivor of mass sexual violence; American activist Amanda Zurawski, known for her lawsuit against the state of Texas; and American actress and model Olivia Munn, who has been battling cancer. Munn was recognized for encouraging women to undergo breast cancer screenings.

The American magazine Time has announced a shortlist of 10 contenders for the title of 2024 Person of the Year.

«Since 1927, Time has selected a person, group, or concept that has had the greatest influence on the world over the past 12 months. This morning, the NBC Today show revealed the ten candidates vying for the title of Time’s Person of the Year», the announcement reads.

The list includes U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, current Vice President Kamala Harris, billionaire Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, podcaster Joe Rogan, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, and the Princess of Wales.

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, previously appeared on the Time 100 Most Influential People list in 2013 and was a finalist for Person of the Year in 2011. The magazine notes that Middleton «sparked a wave of conversations about the privacy and well-being of public figures».

It is worth recalling that last year’s Time Person of the Year was pop star Taylor Swift. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the «Spirit of Ukraine» were honored in 2022, while billionaire Elon Musk held the title in 2021.
