The main guest of the evening was Reese Witherspoon, who portrayed the charismatic Elle Woods in 2001 – one of the most recognizable characters in early-21st-century romantic comedies. The series «Elle» will serve as a prequel to «Legally Blonde» and will depict Elle Woods’ life in 1995, long before her admission to Harvard Law School. The story follows her teenage years, first love, complicated friendships, and the experiences that shape her character and confidence.

The premiere of the first season of «Elle» is scheduled for July 1, 2026, on Prime Video. Reese Witherspoon serves as an executive producer on the project. Even before the debut of the first season, the streaming platform has already renewed the series for a second season, reflecting high expectations for this new chapter in Elle Woods’ story.

Prime Video has released the first trailer for «Elle» – the prequel series to the beloved 2000s hit «Legally Blonde», the film that helped launch Reese Witherspoon to stardom.

The story centres on a young Elle Woods, this time portrayed by Lexi Minetree. Set in 1995, the series follows the future star lawyer while she is still in high school and only beginning to discover her place in the world.

According to the plot, Elle’s family is forced to relocate from sunny Los Angeles to rainy Seattle because of her father’s job. A new city, a new school and an unfamiliar environment become a major challenge for the teenager. She must make new friends, adapt to her surroundings, experience first love and navigate all the complexities of adolescence.

Joining Lexi Minetree in the cast are June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, James Van Der Beek, David Burtka, Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Lucas and Amy Pietz.

The project was developed by screenwriter Laura Kittrell, best known for her work on «Insecure». Together with Caroline Dries, she also serves as the series’ showrunner and executive producer.

The involvement of Reese Witherspoon has generated particular excitement around the project. This time, the actress joins the series as an executive producer through her production company «Hello Sunshine».

The first season will consist of eight episodes and will premiere on Prime Video on July 1.

A special screening of the fourth season of Apple TV+’s «The Morning Show» took place in Los Angeles. Leading stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon appeared together on the red carpet to present the highly anticipated new season.

The event was held at the theatre complex of the Directors Guild of America as part of the series’ Emmy campaign presentation.
