Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to return to the UK with their children. The family is expected to move from the United States at the end of August, according to British and American media reports. A source close to the couple has also confirmed the news.

They are planning to settle in a private home outside London rather than a royal residence. Harry and Meghan will remain private citizens and will not resume official royal duties — meaning their status within the royal family will remain unchanged.

One of the main reasons behind the move is their children’s education. Seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet have already been enrolled in British schools and are expected to begin classes in September.

Harry and Meghan left the UK in 2020 after stepping back from their royal duties. They initially lived in Canada before eventually settling in California, where the couple focused on developing their own media projects.

Since the move, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the royal family has remained strained. The couple have repeatedly spoken publicly about conflicts behind palace walls.

Recently, however, there have been signs of improvement in Harry’s relationship with his father. After King Charles III was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, father and son gradually began rebuilding their relationship. In September 2025, they met in person for the first time in 20 months. During a recent visit to the UK by Harry, Meghan and their children, Charles also saw Archie and Lilibet for the first time since 2022.

According to sources, the monarch was only informed of the couple’s plans to return on Sunday. Charles III reportedly welcomed the news, as it will allow him to see his son and grandchildren more often.

Harry’s relationship with his older brother, Prince William, however, remains difficult. Despite his gradual reconciliation with his father, relations between Diana’s sons are still far from warm.

Prince Harry has lost his legal battle against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. The High Court of England and Wales dismissed all claims brought by the Duke of Sussex and six other claimants, who had accused the publisher of unlawfully obtaining confidential information.

The lawsuit concerned alleged misconduct that, according to the claimants, had taken place over many years. Prince Harry argued that journalists and private investigators working with Associated Newspapers had used illegal methods to obtain information. These allegedly included phone tapping, the use of surveillance devices, deception and other forms of intrusion into private life. Joining him in the lawsuit were singer Elton John, actress Elizabeth Hurley, filmmaker David Furnish, actress Sadie Frost, Baroness Doreen Lawrence and former Member of Parliament Simon Hughes.

However, Mr Justice Matthew Nicklin concluded that the claimants had failed to provide sufficient evidence that the information had been obtained unlawfully. In his judgment, he stated that even if the origins of certain published stories raised legitimate questions, this alone did not prove that journalists had acted illegally. Instead, the court accepted the publisher’s position that all of the material had been obtained through lawful means.

Associated Newspapers described the ruling as an «unequivocal victory» for the Daily Mail, its journalists and press freedom. The company also announced that it intends to seek recovery of its legal costs. The 46-day trial is estimated to have cost approximately 53.5 million US dollars. A further hearing, during which the parties will address the legal consequences of the ruling and the allocation of legal costs, has been scheduled for 29-30 July.

During hearings earlier this year, Prince Harry spoke emotionally about his long-running battle with the British tabloid press. He said the relentless media attention had affected not only his own life but also that of his wife, Meghan Markle. The couple now live in California with their children.

The case has become one of the most significant chapters in Prince Harry’s long-running legal fight against the British tabloid media. Despite this defeat, he has previously secured victories in cases against other media companies, including Mirror Group Newspapers, and reached a settlement with News Group Newspapers in separate proceedings concerning the unlawful gathering of information.

Prince Harry’s former charity, Sentebale, has filed a lawsuit against him for defamation and insult, one year after he stepped down from his role as patron following an internal conflict with its chair, Sophie Chandauka. In addition, the organization has brought a claim against one of the 41-year-old Duke of Sussex’s close friends, Mark Dyer, who previously oversaw Sentebale.

The new board of trustees and the chief executive of Sentebale issued a statement on April 10 confirming that the organization has initiated legal proceedings against Harry and Dyer over a «coordinated negative media campaign» that began in March 2025.

They allege that the former representatives caused harm to the charity’s work, its leadership, and its strategic partners, as well as damaging its reputation — triggering a wave of cyberbullying directed at Sentebale and its management.

Meanwhile, representatives for the Duke of Sussex and Dyer told Page Six that they categorically reject these «offensive and defamatory» claims: «It is astonishing that charitable funds are now being used for legal action against the very individuals who founded and supported the organization for nearly two decades, rather than being directed toward helping communities.»

It is worth recalling that Harry co-founded Sentebale in 2006 in honor of his mother, Princess Diana. The foundation focuses on supporting young people living with HIV and AIDS in southern Africa. However, the Duke of Sussex stepped down in March 2025 following a conflict with Chandauka, who remains chair of the organization.

Following King Charles III and Queen Camilla, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also unveiled their Christmas card.

Like the Waleses, who shared their greeting earlier, the couple opted for an archival image. The photograph was taken in spring in the garden of their Montecito home and captures Meghan and Harry posing with their children – six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet.

«Happy holidays! From our family to yours», reads the caption accompanying the post.

In addition, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a second card on behalf of the charitable organisation they founded, the Archewell Foundation.

Its message reads: «Wishing you happy holidays and a joyful New Year».

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a packed weekend. The couple first attended the charity gala of Baby2Baby, an organization that supports children from low-income families by providing clothing and essential items in disaster-affected areas across the United States.

The evening’s highlight was Meghan’s close friend Serena Williams, who was honored with the Giving Tree Award. For the event, the Duchess of Sussex chose an elegant all-black ensemble: a form-fitting top, a flowing maxi skirt, and delicate sandals. Gold earrings added a striking accent, completing the look flawlessly.

Prince Harry, true to form, opted for classic elegance – a dark suit, white shirt, and tie.

After the formal gala, the couple headed to a James Bond-themed party celebrating Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday, held at Jeff Bezos’ Beverly Hills mansion.

During the evening, the couple sat among the guests before taking the stage to accept the award for «Humanitarians of the Year». The organizers recognized the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their efforts to create a safer and fairer online space for families and young people, as well as for their initiatives promoting mental health.

As a reminder, in 2020, Harry and Meghan founded the Archewell Foundation, which runs The Parents’ Network, a project offering support to parents whose children have been affected by online bullying.

Prince Harry said in a BBC interview that he «would like to reconcile» with the royal family. At the same time, he expressed regret over the court’s decision to reject his appeal regarding security arrangements for him and his family in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex challenged in court the changes to his security that took effect in 2020, after he stepped down from royal duties and moved to the United States.

He noted that the King «does not speak to him over these security issues,» but stressed that he no longer wants to continue the conflicts. «I don’t know how much time my father has left,» he said.

Buckingham Palace responded: «All these matters have been examined thoroughly and repeatedly by the courts, and the conclusions have consistently been the same.»

Following the latest court ruling, Harry said: «I can’t imagine a situation where I would bring my wife and children to the UK right now.»

He admitted to long-standing disagreements with family members. «I’ve had so many differences with some family members, but now I want peace. There’s no point in fighting anymore — life is precious,» said Harry, adding that the security issue has always been the main obstacle.

He confessed he felt «betrayed» and described the court defeat as a «conspiracy of an outdated system,» accusing royal family members of influencing the decision to scale down his protection.

When asked if he had requested the King to intervene, Harry replied: «I never asked him to intervene, I just said — let the experts handle it.»

According to him, the security discussions «confirmed his worst fears.»

«I’m disappointed – not so much by the loss itself, but by the people behind this decision, as if this is normal. Is it a victory for them? I’m sure there are people who probably wish me harm, who consider this a great win,» he said.

He emphasized that the loss of protection «affects him every day» and added that he could return to the UK safely only with an official invitation from the royal family that would ensure an adequate level of security.

Harry noted that the 2020 changes in security affected not only him but also his wife and children. «Everyone knew that since 2020 we’ve been put at risk and hoped fear would drive us back. But when it becomes clear that it didn’t work — do you really not want us to be safe? Whether you’re the government, the Royal Household, my father, my family — do you not simply want to ensure our safety?» he said.

When asked if he misses his homeland, he replied: «I love my country, I always have, despite what some people there have done… and it really saddens me that I can’t show my homeland to my children.»

The prince decided not to pursue further legal action, stating that the court decision showed that «it is impossible to win through the courts.»

«This is essentially a family conflict, and it really saddens me that we are here, five years after the decision that I believe was made to keep us out,» he added.

He claimed that the Royal Household intervened in the 2020 decision, resulting in him — as one of the most vulnerable royal family members — becoming «one of the least protected overnight.»

«So the question is — how was that possible and what were the motives?» he continued.

Harry said he was shocked to learn that a Royal Household representative was part of the Ravec committee, and claimed that the court’s ruling confirmed the decision was influenced more by the Royal Household than legal standards.

He appealed to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to intervene in his case and reform the operations of the Ravec committee.

The court acknowledged that Prince Harry presented «strong” arguments regarding the threats faced by him and his family, but emphasized that his «feelings of injustice» are not a legal basis.

His claim was brought against the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), which operates on behalf of the Home Office and was chaired at the time by Sir Richard Mottram.

The judges noted that in 2020 the committee deviated from standard policy when making the decision about the prince’s security, but concluded that this was «reasonable» given the complex circumstances.

Prince Harry has won a long-running legal battle against media group News Group Newspapers (NGN), owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch. The parties reached an out-of-court settlement in a lawsuit concerning the illegal phone hacking by the tabloids The Sun.

The Duke of Sussex will receive $12 million. From the beginning, Prince Harry insisted that the case was not about money but about accountability. This decision marks the first official acknowledgment that The Sun used illegal methods to gather information.

In a statement read in court, NGN apologized, saying:

«We apologize to the Duke of Sussex for the serious intrusion into his private life during the period from 1996 to 2011, including instances of illegal activity by private investigators working for The Sun. NGN also apologizes to the Duke of Sussex for phone hacking, surveillance, and improper use of personal information by journalists and private investigators instructed by News of the World».

The newspaper also issued an apology for invading Princess Diana’s privacy:

«NGN also apologizes to the Duke for the impact of widespread coverage and serious intrusion into his private life, as well as the private life of Diana, Princess of Wales, his late mother, particularly during his younger years».

Previously, Murdoch’s media group had reached out-of-court settlements with more than 1,300 individuals who accused it of phone hacking. The 2011 scandal led to the closure of News of the World. The dispute with Prince Harry was the last unresolved case.

Recently, Meghan Markle attended the Paley Honors Fall Gala 2024 in Beverly Hills to support her close friend, producer Tyler Perry, who received the Paley Honors Award.

Under the photographers’ flashes, Prince Harry’s wife posed in an elegant evening look: an off-shoulder Oscar de la Renta gown paired with Stuart Weitzman strappy sandals. Her ensemble was completed with a custom diamond necklace designed by Lorraine Schwartz and Angie Marei, and a Cartier bracelet.

The announcement of Perry’s award was made in the summer, along with the news that Meghan and Harry would be among the invited guests.

However, Harry’s plans changed. Yesterday, he was in New York, speaking at the DealBook Summit about how he had suffered for years from media lies.

«Judging by what’s written about Meghan and me, we’ve bought and moved houses ten times and divorced just as often. It’s hard to keep track of it all, which is why you just ignore it. I mostly feel sorry for the haters: they’re hoping for all of this to happen, but then it turns out nothing has», he said.

Prince Harry also added that he has no intention of moving back to the UK with his family.

«I really enjoy living here and raising my children», he stated, adding that there are things he can do with his kids “that we definitely wouldn’t be able to do in the UK,” though he didn’t specify what those things are.
