The future First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, has launched her own cryptocurrency — a memecoin called $MELANIA, ahead of her husband Donald Trump’s inauguration as the newly elected President of the United States.

«Melania’s official meme is now on sale! You can buy $MELANIA right now,» Melania Trump wrote on the social media platform X.

Immediately after the launch, the price of Melania’s cryptocurrency skyrocketed as traders rushed to purchase it, reaching $6 and securing a market capitalization of over $5 billion.

Earlier, the newly elected U.S. President had also launched his own cryptocurrency — memecoin $TRUMP. Its price surged after the launch, quickly climbing into the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, reaching $14 billion.

However, after Melania announced her competing cryptocurrency, the price of Trump’s memecoin dropped by 40%. Currently, both cryptocurrencies are gaining value.

Like Trump’s cryptocurrency, Melania’s memecoin was launched on the Solana blockchain.

The memecoin’s website states that Melania Memes are intended solely for collection and entertainment purposes and are not financial instruments or investments. Nevertheless, they generate profit due to increased demand, which leads to a rise in value.

It is worth noting that the inauguration of the elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, will take place today, January 20, in Washington, D.C. It will begin at 12:00 local time.
