The return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the UK has already sparked plenty of discussion. Now, King Charles III has publicly addressed the arrival of his younger son and his family for the first time.

Under the monarch’s decision, Harry and Meghan are free to live in the UK, but neither their former royal duties nor their previous status will be restored. What’s more, Charles III has banned Harry and Meghan from being referred to as members of the royal family.

According to the BBC, a letter on behalf of the monarch was sent to representatives of the government, the Ministry of Defence and members of the House of Lords. Around 100 people received the document in total. It was prompted by numerous questions about how Harry and Meghan should now be treated.

The letter explicitly states that they are no longer working members of the royal family. As a result, they should not be treated as representatives of the monarchy. In particular, they should not be addressed as «His Royal Highness» or «Her Royal Highness» — their titles remain suspended and are not to be used.

«The charitable activities of the Duke and Duchess are a personal matter for both of them and are carried out in a private capacity. Their position is similar to that of private individuals who have commercial and charitable interests», the letter states.

Charles III also stressed that the arrangements agreed upon following Harry and Meghan’s withdrawal from royal duties in 2020 will not be revisited.

«Their status has not changed», the letter states.

This means that Harry and Meghan will not be able to make a partial return to royal life either. They are not permitted to carry out official duties while simultaneously developing their own independent business.

At the end of August, the Sussexes returned to the UK with their children after spending six years in the United States. In 2020, Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from working members of the royal family.

The couple is now living at their own residence outside London, which does not belong to the royal family.

After years of strained relations between the British royal family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the ice may finally be thawing. King Charles III has met with his younger son, Prince Harry, his wife Meghan Markle, and his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet for the first time in four years.

According to Vanity Fair, the meeting took place at Highgrove House, the King’s country residence in Gloucestershire. The guests were welcomed by both King Charles and Queen Camilla. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the family reunion took place but declined to provide any further details. Royal representatives have not commented on what was discussed, how long the meeting lasted, or whether any photographs from the occasion will be released.

Sources close to the family say that Prince Harry promised his father he would not publicly disclose the contents of their conversation. It is only known that the gathering was held in a highly private setting, away from media attention.

Insiders also report that the King had long wished to see his grandchildren again. For the 77-year-old monarch, the reunion was particularly meaningful. The last time Archie and Lilibet visited the United Kingdom was in 2022, when they attended events surrounding the farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.

As a reminder, Prince Harry arrived in London a few days ago to take part in events organized by the Invictus Games Foundation.

Further changes are underway within the British royal family. King Charles III has decided to remove his nieces – Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie – from a royal residence where they had been living rent-free for many years.

According to RadarOnline, the daughters of Prince Andrew have already received official notices asking them to find accommodation in London independently.

The monarch reportedly reviewed the use of royal properties following the publication of a report by the UK National Audit Office. The document stated that Beatrice and Eugenie had benefited from housing funded by the royal family for years despite not carrying out official duties on behalf of the monarchy. The costs associated with their accommodation were initially covered by the personal funds of Queen Elizabeth II and, following her death, by King Charles III.

As a reminder, similar measures had previously affected their parents – Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. Following the high-profile scandal linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case, the couple lost the right to reside in one of the royal residences. The sisters were also barred from attending the traditional Royal Ascot horse-racing event.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla have arrived in the United States on a state visit and have already met with American President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump.

For the meeting with the U.S. president and the First Lady, Queen Camilla chose a white midi dress created by the atelier of designer Anna Valentine, who regularly collaborates with her. Admirers of the Queen also noticed a brooch from the collection of Elizabeth II featuring the American and British flags. King Charles III wore a blue pinstripe suit paired with a pink tie.

Melania Trump appeared for the meeting in a yellow skirt-and-jacket ensemble designed by Adam Lippes. She also wore snakeskin-print pumps by Manolo Blahnik. President Trump selected a blue suit similar to King Charles III’s, though paired with a light blue tie.

The royal couple’s visit, dedicated to the 250th anniversary of American independence from United Kingdom, began with tea in the Green Room of the White House. Afterwards, the Trumps invited King Charles III and Queen Camilla for a walk through the garden.

The King of the United Kingdom, Charles III, attended a fashion show in London just hours after the arrest of his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who is suspected of abusing his official position.

Arriving at the show of British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker, the king greeted attendees with a wave and was met with applause. Sitting in the front row, he engaged in lively conversation with British Fashion Council chair Laura Weir and designer Stella McCartney while observing the collection.

Before the show, Charles III viewed Stella McCartney’s exhibition highlighting sustainable British innovations. Afterwards, he spoke with Tolu Coker and other emerging designers.

Meanwhile, Queen Camilla met with Anna Wintour during Fashion Week and posed for a photo with her.

Earlier on Thursday, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was taken into police custody for questioning over allegations that he passed confidential government documents to Jeffrey Epstein. The arrest of a senior royal, eighth in line to the throne, marked an unprecedented event in modern history and has been described as the biggest crisis of Charles III’s reign.

In an official statement, the king expressed «deep concern» over the incident: «Let me be clear: the law must prevail. In the meantime, my family and I will continue to carry out our duties and serve you all».

Former England captain and now avid gardener David Beckham has been awarded a knighthood for his contribution to football and his dedicated service to British society. From now on, he is officially known as Sir David, while his wife is addressed as Lady Victoria.

The legendary athlete has never hidden his admiration for the monarchy and has openly expressed his support for the royal family over the years.

«People know how patriotic I am – I love my country. I’ve always said how important the monarchy is to my family. I’ve been fortunate to travel the world, and wherever I go, people want to talk to me about our monarchy. And I’m proud of that», said the footballer.

Beckham emphasized that he valued the recognition not only of his sporting achievements but also of his long-standing charitable work. Since 2005, he has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has supported numerous humanitarian projects.

For the formal ceremony at Windsor Castle, David arrived wearing a suit designed by Victoria Beckham. The charcoal three-piece suit marked the debut piece of the brand’s menswear line, created by his wife, who in 2017 was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to fashion.

According to Beckham, it was his idea for Victoria to create a special outfit for him. She drew inspiration from archival photographs of the young Charles III, whom the athlete calls «the most elegant man of his time».

U.S. President Donald Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, began his state visit to the United Kingdom with a landing by helicopter on the lawn of Windsor Castle. They were first greeted by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Catherine.

The 43-year-old Princess of Wales chose a burgundy Emilia Wickstead dress paired with a matching Jane Taylor hat, while 55-year-old Melania Trump appeared before the royal family in a fitted black Dior jacket with a pencil skirt, completing her look with a violet hat.

Soon after, the American guests were received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Following the official welcoming ceremony, a military parade featuring aircraft, including F-35 fighter jets, took place. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also joined the event.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged symbolic gifts. King Charles III presented President Trump with a leather-bound book marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence and a flag that had flown above Buckingham Palace on the day of his second inauguration. For Melania Trump, the royal couple selected a silver bowl by Northern Irish artist Cara Murphy and a designer handbag by Anya Hindmarch.

King Charles III of the United Kingdom has launched an unexpected and heartwarming initiative – an exclusive collection of teddy bears titled HM King Charles III. These special bears are available at the Highgrove House and Gardens gift shop.

Only 1,948 bears will be produced, marking the year of the King’s birth. Each bear is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

The price of one bear is £224.

The toys are crafted by the renowned British company Merrythought, famous for creating the iconic Paddington Bear. Made from premium materials – silver mohair plush, soft velvet, and detailed golden embroidery – the bears feature royal symbols representing the highest honors of the British Crown.

On their paws are the Royal Coat of Arms and the manufacturer’s logo. On the shoulder, miniature versions of the Royal Victorian Order ribbon and the Order of the Garter star are displayed.

The bear’s appearance reflects King Charles’s «royal wisdom and dignity». It has blue eyes and a subtle smile.

Each bear is packaged in an elegant gift box. The item is a collector’s piece intended for adults and not a toy for children.

Proceeds from the sales will support The King’s Foundation, a charity founded by Charles III. The foundation focuses on youth programs, veteran support, and environmental initiatives.

Interestingly, King Charles has loved teddy bears since childhood. According to Prince Harry, the King never parted from his favorite bear, Teddy. Even now, it is said that the monarch still keeps it – cared for by his personal valet.

The gardens of King Charles III at the Highgrove estate have been left without gardeners. Due to excessive demands on staff combined with meagre salaries, 11 out of 12 employees have submitted their resignations. This comes despite the fact that the estate generated over $8 million in revenue last financial year — more than any other royal residence.

The situation has been worsened by a generally toxic work atmosphere. Among the 11 who resigned were the head gardener and his deputy. All of them left during 2024. The wave of resignations began when a long-serving employee, who had worked for the King for decades, finally buckled under pressure and resigned.

Complaints about working conditions at Highgrove, which Charles purchased in 1980, had already surfaced three years ago. In 2022, three workers were paid the bare minimum wage of $11.98 an hour, while two others received $12.78 an hour.

At the end of 2023, one gardener filed a complaint stating that the staff was overburdened and understaffed while trying to meet the King’s unrealistic expectations. As a result, some gardeners suffered physical injuries, and morale was extremely low. The King himself appears to be unaware of the true workload required to fulfil his instructions and routinely issues numerous new orders during his morning walkarounds.

In addition, King Charles III reportedly sends staff memoranda with detailed instructions and even returned reports marked in red ink if he spotted typos. He also insisted on being addressed strictly as «Your Majesty» instead of «Sir.» Notably, royal protocol requires «Your Majesty» only upon the first greeting — after that, «Sir» is customary.

After the mass resignations, the position of Head Gardener was abolished and replaced with a «Lead Gardener.» The role went to Konstantin «Costa» Innerme, a trusted royal advisor who also serves as the executive director of Highgrove. His name was also mentioned in complaints from former staff, who said he directed employees to follow the King’s orders regardless of how labour-intensive or unreasonable they seemed.

«If the monarch wished a plant to be moved from point A to point B, but the gardener believed it would die in the process, Innerme would insist on it anyway,» said one former employee.

Despite the King’s Foundation commissioning the independent HR consultancy WorkNest to investigate the complaints, the estate remains understaffed and wages have not improved. If nothing changes, the King may soon be planting trees not just ceremonially, according to The Sunday Times.
