Amazon founder and Met Gala’s leading patron Jeff Bezos is selling his sailing yacht Koru, valued at $500 million, according to Page Six. Rumor has it the reason for the sale is that the 127-meter “floating palace” — whose bow features a wooden sculpture of Bezos’s wife, Lauren Sánchez, depicted as a mermaid — is simply too large to manage.

The vessel is said to include three jacuzzis, a helipad, and a glass-bottom pool. Bezos also owns a $75 million support vessel, Abeona, though it remains unclear whether it is included in the deal. At the same time, reports suggest that maintaining both vessels costs around $30 million annually, a figure that could deter potential buyers.

It is worth noting that Bezos’s Koru is one of the largest sailing yachts in the world — a distinction that has created its share of complications. Last year, it was not permitted to dock during the Monaco Grand Prix, and during the billionaire’s wedding to Lauren Sánchez, the yacht was unable to approach the Venetian lagoon. Back in 2022, the Oceanco shipyard even considered dismantling the historic Koningshaven Bridge in Rotterdam to allow the yacht to pass; however, following public backlash — including threats to pelt the vessel with eggs — the yacht was ultimately towed without its masts, which were installed only after clearing the bridge.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that the Met Gala 2026 — headlined by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose fortune is estimated at $224 billion, and his wife Lauren Sánchez — raised a record-breaking $42 million. The couple’s involvement sparked protests among some high-profile figures: Meryl Streep declined the role of co-chair, while Zendaya and New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, along with his wife, also chose to skip the event.

Venice has been covered with flyers and posters from local activists protesting the upcoming wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez.

After the Venice city hall confirmed that the famous couple would be getting married in the «city of water», a group of activists led by local teacher Marta Sottoriva launched a campaign called «No space for Bezos».

According to The Guardian, residents oppose turning Venice into a playground for billionaires and celebrities. The wedding is expected to host over 200 guests, including big names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Ivanka Trump, and others.

Despite the fact that the billionaire’s event could bring nearly 10 million euros into the city’s budget, protesters are putting up posters in popular tourist spots, handing out leaflets to passersby, and giving speeches in public squares.

«There is a lot of anger in the air, because the council has once again bowed to the logic of profit – our city has been sold to the highest bidder. Every time such an event takes place, Venice freezes: some areas become inaccessible, and the number of tourists surges», activist Sottoriva told the newspaper.

The campaign continues to grow – activists have even hung a banner reading «No to Bezos» on the façade of the San Giorgio Basilica, where Bezos and Sánchez plan to hold their wedding ceremony.

American billionaire Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, television journalist Lauren Sanchez, are preparing to tie the knot soon. According to RadarOnline, the couple is planning a lavish wedding during the upcoming Christmas season.

«They’re getting ready for a fairy-tale winter wedding in Aspen this Christmas, as both of them absolutely adore the holiday season. Jeff and Lauren are planning an extravagant ceremony, sparing no expense to create a dazzling white Christmas event that will amaze their guests», — an insider revealed.

The guest list will reportedly include only the most influential figures from the worlds of art and business, promising an unforgettable celebration.

To recap, news first broke in 2019 that entrepreneur Jeff Bezos had fallen in love and was preparing to divorce his wife. Paparazzi repeatedly captured the businessman with the striking brunette and television host Lauren Sanchez. However, few believed that Jeff would leave his wife, MacKenzie Scott, for the romance. The couple had been married for 25 years. Just months before their split, they appeared happy celebrating another wedding anniversary. But Bezos’ feelings for Lauren Sanchez proved stronger than his marriage. In 2023, the couple got engaged.

Following Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election, several of the world’s wealthiest people saw significant gains in their fortunes. Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, saw the biggest profit — his wealth increased by $26.5 billion in just one day.

The reason for this was the remarkable surge in assets of many companies following the U.S. elections, according to Bloomberg. Specifically, Tesla’s shares in New York rose by 15% at the end of trading, boosting the company’s annual growth to 32%.

According to the publication’s estimates, Trump’s victory brought a record $63.5 billion to several other magnates. In addition to Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos increased his wealth by $7 billion.

Others who saw gains included Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, whose fortune grew by nearly $10 billion in a day; Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, who gained $7.58 billion; Google co-founder Larry Page, with an increase of $5.53 billion; and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, whose capital rose by $12.1 billion in a day.

Interestingly, Musk reportedly invested heavily in Trump’s campaign. Western media reported that Elon sponsored the Republican with $130 million, and in return, Trump promised to appoint Musk to an official position in the government.
