George Clooney is planning to temporarily step away from acting in order to dedicate more time to philanthropic initiatives. He shared this during the 51st Chaplin Award Gala at Lincoln Center, where the actor was honored for his significant contribution to the film industry.

At the center of his focus is the work of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, which he co-founded with his wife Amal Clooney. The organization is dedicated to protecting human rights and supporting those affected by violence and injustice.

In addition, Clooney plans to engage more actively with the Roybal School of Film and Television Production – an educational initiative designed to expand opportunities for young people from underrepresented communities in the film industry.

At the same time, the actor emphasizes that this is not a complete withdrawal from his profession. He remains open to new roles – provided they are truly strong and meaningful projects.

It is noteworthy that George Clooney has made similar statements before. Back in 2017, he spoke about his intention to reduce his acting workload, yet continued working both in front of and behind the camera, increasingly prioritizing selectivity and the quality of projects.

The Oscar winner received the honorary award for his «multifaceted career as an actor, director, and producer, as well as for his global humanitarian work». Organisers also praised him as a man of principle, humour, and a reputation he has upheld for many years, according to Just Jared.

The star couple is seldom seen at social events. For the occasion, 64-year-old Clooney chose timeless classic style – a black tuxedo with a bow tie. Meanwhile, 48-year-old Amal opted for striking elegance, appearing in a Balenciaga mini dress from Pierpaolo Piccioli’s new summer collection.

Actor George Clooney has described US President Donald Trump’s threat toward Iran – that «a whole civilization will be wiped out tonight» – as a war crime. He made the statement during a meeting with around three thousand high school students in the Italian city of Cuneo. The event was organized by the Clooney Foundation for Justice.

According to Clooney, such rhetoric about the destruction of civilization is unacceptable and goes beyond the boundaries of political discourse. Even when holding conservative views, he emphasized, there must be «a line of decency that cannot be crossed».

In response, the White House communications director Steven Cheung sharply criticized the actor, claiming that «the only person committing war crimes is George Clooney – through his terrible films and acting».

Clooney later responded in a comment to Deadline, calling for serious public debate instead of personal insults. He noted that «families are losing loved ones, children are burning, and the global economy is on edge», stressing the need for «meaningful, high-level discussions».

He also clarified that the intent to physically destroy a nation constitutes a war crime under the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute.

«What is the administration’s argument, other than calling me a failed actor – which I happily accept after ‘Batman & Robin’?», his statement read.

The conflict between Clooney and Trump has been ongoing for years. Ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Clooney drew media attention after publishing an opinion piece in The New York Times urging Joe Biden to withdraw from the race to give the Democratic Party a better chance against Trump.

In response, Trump called Clooney a «fake movie actor» who allegedly never made truly great films. Earlier, he also described him as a «second-rate movie star» following Clooney’s criticism of government policy on press freedom.

Despite their political differences, Clooney previously stated that he had maintained a normal relationship with Trump before his presidency. In an interview with Variety, he said:

«I knew him well. He used to call me often and even tried to help me get into a hospital to see a surgeon. We met in clubs and restaurants. He was something of an eccentric. At least he was. Then everything changed».

It has also previously been reported that such rhetoric about the possible destruction of civilian infrastructure in Iran has raised concerns among legal experts. They argue that such statements may undermine the presumption of lawful military orders and increase the risk of US service members being accused of war crimes under the Geneva Conventions. Legal scholars stress that orders potentially leading to mass civilian casualties conflict with international law and US military standards.

Hollywood actor and director George Clooney graces the cover of the latest issue of Esquire. Alongside his interview, the star appears in an atmospheric photo story, posing outdoors in trench coats, sweaters, cardigans, and a classic suit — showcasing a refined yet effortless sense of style.

Despite being part of one of Hollywood’s most famous couples, the 64-year-old Clooney and his wife, 47-year-old human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, rarely share details about their private life. However, in the interview, the actor admitted that his main priority now is protecting his children from the pressures of fame.

The couple is raising their eight-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, on a farm in France — far from the noise of the film industry and, in particular, Hollywood.

«You know, we live on a farm in France. I spent part of my childhood on a farm — I didn’t like it back then, but now I realize how valuable it was. Our kids don’t spend time on tablets; they have dinner with the adults and wash the dishes afterward. They have a real, better life,» the actor shared.

Clooney added that living in Los Angeles would deprive his children of a normal childhood. He believes that the calm, rural life allows them to simply be kids — not «George Clooney’s children».

«I don’t want them to grow up under constant paparazzi attention or to be compared to someone else’s famous children. In France, no one cares about fame — and that’s wonderful,» he noted.

Hollywood actor George Clooney doesn’t often share details about his personal life, sticking to the saying «happiness loves silence». However, he recently opened up about his relationship with wife Amal, revealing that in their 10 years of marriage, they have never had a single argument.

The 63-year-old actor shared this surprising detail on CBS Mornings. Clooney emphasized that he had told host Gayle King two years ago that he and his wife didn’t argue, and according to him, nothing has changed since.

«I remember saying back then that we hadn’t had any fights. And we still haven’t had one! We’re still trying to find something to fight about! I feel incredibly lucky to have met this amazing woman. It really feels like I hit the jackpot! Not a day goes by without me thinking I’m the luckiest man in the world», the Oscar winner shared.

The actor also mentioned their children – twins Ella and Alexander. Clooney said he takes great joy in fatherhood and spends all his time with his kids.

«Our kids are seven years old, soon to be eight, and it’s a wonderful age. They’re very curious and funny. Every parent thinks their kids are great. Our kids are hilarious and make us laugh», the actor said.

Hollywood actor George Clooney, who is usually seen on screen as a heartthrob hero, is ending his career in romantic films. The actor admitted that he will no longer star in rom-coms because of his age, as he sees no point in «competing with 25-year-old actors» at the age of 63.

Clooney shared his decision on the 60 Minutes podcast, as reported by Deadline. According to the star, he does not feel suitable for such roles.

«I’m 63 years old. I’m not trying to compete with 25-year-old actors. It’s not my role. I will never do romantic movies again», Clooney stated.

However, the actor quickly assured that his film career is not over – he will simply focus on other roles.

The last time Clooney appeared in a romantic role was in the 2022 comedy Ticket to Paradise, where he played a married couple with Julia Roberts.
