Screenwriter Nick Reiner suspected in the murder of his parents

He struggled with drug addiction
A harrowing story from Hollywood has shocked the public. Film director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle were found dead in their Los Angeles home, both suffering from multiple stab wounds. Police are investigating the case as a suspected double homicide, CNN reports.
According to sources, the perpetrator allegedly set fire to the mansion after the killings, which made it difficult to identify the victims for some time. Several media outlets name the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, as the main suspect. He had reportedly struggled with drug addiction for years and had been living without a permanent home near his parents’ residence, People magazine writes.
So far, there has been no official confirmation of these details from the police. Nick Reiner is being questioned, but at this stage no one has been detained or arrested.
A representative of the Reiner family officially confirmed the deaths and appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult period:
«With profound sorrow, we announce the tragic passing of Michelle and Rob Reiner. We are devastated by this sudden loss and kindly ask that our family’s privacy be respected during this incredibly difficult time».
Rob Reiner was a true legend of the film industry. He directed a number of iconic films, including The Bucket List, Misery, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, and many others. He is also credited with coining the term «mockumentary», used to describe pseudo-documentary films.
Reiner had been married to Michelle since 1989. She worked as an actress and photographer; among her notable works was a portrait of Donald Trump for the cover of the book Trump: The Art of the Deal. The couple had three children – Nick, Romy, and Jack. Rob Reiner was previously married to actress Penny Marshall, with whom he has an adopted daughter.
