Pregnant Rihanna, Zendaya in a tuxedo, and other stars: highlights from the 2025 Met Gala

A look at the best outfits
Last night in New York, the long-awaited annual Met Gala took place, hosted by the Costume Institute to mark the opening of a new exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum — Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. The exhibit explores the impact of fashion and style on shaping Black male identity.
The project is based on the book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity” by Professor Monica Miller. The official dress code of the evening was Tailored for You, encouraging guests to draw inspiration from the zoot suit culture of the 1940s jazz era or incorporate elements of menswear such as hats, ties, or canes.
This year’s carpet was a dark navy blue with a floral pattern. As in previous years, the hall was adorned with plants and hundreds of floating petals.
One of the first to appear before photographers was event host and Costume Institute director Anna Wintour, who wore a silver floral-embroidered Louis Vuitton gown with a long sky-blue coat.
Zendaya, true to her status as a fashion icon, arrived in a white three-piece Louis Vuitton suit, paired with an oversized hat. A standout detail caught the eye of fashion critics: a sparkling snake-shaped brooch on the back of her blazer.
Interestingly, Japanese actress Anna Sawai wore a strikingly similar outfit — their looks differed only in the cut of the trousers.
Another Louis Vuitton supporter was rapper Doechii. This year’s Grammy winner stunned in a custom suit created in collaboration with Pharrell Williams.
Pharrell himself wore a suit embroidered with 15,000 pearls — crafted over 400 hours in the Louis Vuitton atelier.
A$AP Rocky, one of this year’s co-chairs, said his outfit was inspired by his native Harlem. He fully designed his look himself, completing it with Christian Louboutin boots.
Demi Moore wore a black maxi dress with a sculptural round collar, created by Thom Browne. The intricate beadwork on the shimmering print was done by hand in the designer’s studio.
Zoe Saldana embraced the theme with a glamorous tuxedo-style gown.
Gigi Hadid stepped onto the carpet in a look reminiscent of Old Hollywood. Her shimmering gold maxi dress was a tribute to designer Zelda Wynn Valdes and a nod to Josephine Baker — dancer, activist, and the first Black actress to star in a major film.
Model Lupita Nyong’o added the trendiest touch of 2025 to her classic suit — a cape. The baby blue shade made her look even more fashion-forward.
Another perfect tuxedo of the night came from Madonna, who wore a pearl-embellished two-piece suit by Tom Ford, designed by Haider Ackermann.
But the true star of the gala was once again Rihanna. Even before her appearance, reports had spread that she and A$AP Rocky are expecting their third child. As usual, Rihanna was fashionably late, but her entrance didn’t go unnoticed. A custom Marc Jacobs look highlighted her pregnancy perfectly, consisting of a corset top, cropped jacket, button-up shirt, and a wool skirt with a thigh-high slit.
