On age, motherhood, and an iconic role: Anne Hathaway in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar

Ahead of the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2
With the premiere of «The Devil Wears Prada 2» approaching, Anne Hathaway has once again become the center of media and public attention. It comes as no surprise that she was chosen as the cover star of the April issue of «Harper’s Bazaar».
The 43-year-old actress graces the cover and took part in a striking fashion shoot photographed by the acclaimed Dutch-American duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. For the shoot, Hathaway showcased a series of standout looks from leading fashion houses, including Saint Laurent, Bvlgari, Michael Kors, Givenchy, and Hermès.

In addition to the editorial, the magazine features an interview in which the actress reflects on her career, motherhood, and a redefined sense of success ahead of the sequel to the cult film «The Devil Wears Prada».
On age and inner transformation:
«It often feels like the first chapter of life is the happiest. But I’m not sure that’s true. I didn’t expect to discover an entirely new state within myself after forty. It’s not just about appearance – what matters is not fixating on it and remembering what is truly important».

On returning to «The Devil Wears Prada» and the role of Andy Sachs:
«It’s an incredible feeling to return to this world after so many years».
According to the plot, Hathaway’s character – journalist Andrea Sachs – returns to «Runway» magazine as a senior editor. There, she reunites with her former colleague Emily Charlton, played by Emily Blunt. Now a PR director at a luxury brand, Emily plays a crucial role in determining the future of the magazine. The film is set to premiere on May 1, 2026.

On motherhood:
The actress admitted that before having children, she was uncompromising, but motherhood taught her to seek balance.
«I used to be uncompromising and entirely focused on my work – now I can hardly imagine my life without my children: they constantly need attention and reshape your entire rhythm of life».

She also noted that she and her friends follow their own parenting philosophy:
«We simply say: “We strive for harmony in our lives”».

Anne Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman are raising two sons: Jonathan, born in 2016, and Jack, born in 2019.
