New Gucci exhibition opens in Shanghai

Dedicated to the Bamboo bag
A new Gucci exhibition has opened in Shanghai, celebrating the iconic Bamboo 1947 bag. The uniqueness of this accessory lies in its bamboo handles.
The project traces the history, design evolution, and cultural significance of the piece. The exhibition is set in the historic Sunke Villa in the heart of the city.
«Shanghai exhibition is designed to offer an unprecedented opportunity to dive into the brand’s archives and explore the House’s history through the lens of one of its most iconic creations,» said curator Ippolito Pestellini, founder of the interdisciplinary agency 2050+.
The exhibition spans seven distinct rooms across two floors. Visitors will also discover suspended bamboo installations that pay tribute to the symbolic origins and the bag’s deep connection to Chinese culture.
The grand opening was attended by Chinese celebrities — brand ambassadors and invited stars — who walked the red carpet dressed in looks from Gucci’s latest collections.
The exhibition is open to the public from April 1 to April 6 at Sunke Villa in central Shanghai.
